A Personal Welcome from Martin

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 30 years since I started my composition journey, and now, this collection represents the culmination of those years—my most personal and best solo piano works. Each of the sixteen pieces in this collection tells a story or captures a moment that has deeply influenced me. From the tribute to my mother in Heart of an Angel to the sweeping grandeur of The Torch, inspired by the Olympics, every composition reflects the people, places, and experiences that have shaped my music.

When I was younger, I often found a gap between the recorded music I heard and what was on the sheet music page. I wanted to make sure that this collection felt different. That’s why I’ve carefully notated each piece to reflect exactly how I perform it, down to the smallest nuance. If you’re a pianist, my hope is that you’ll be able to play these pieces and feel the emotions behind every note—just as I do.
